3rd Health Leaderships Forum Continues
15/6/2023The third Health Leadership Forum, held at the DusitD2 Naseem Resort, Jabal Akhdar, continued for the second day with the presence of H. E. Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, H.E. Sheikh Ghosn Hilal Al-Alawi, President of the State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution, H.E. Dr. Bakhit Ahmed Al Mahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation for Higher Education, H.E. Dr. Saeed Harib Al Lamki, MOH’s Undersecretary for Health Affairs, in addition to Governorates’ directors general of health services and hospitals directors, and directors at the Ministry.
H.E. Sheikh Ghosn Hilal Al-Alawi, President of the State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution gave a presentation on the national roles of the Audit Institution, highlighting its onset, idea of establishment, and how the State Supreme leadership attaches great significant to it, noting the necessity of leveraging its role in combatting corruption.
His Excellency Al-Alawi explored in details roles and tasks of the Institution, assessment and follow up methodology, and reports of the State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution.
Human Resource Development (higher studies in Health) and Health Education was underlined by His Excellency the MOHERI’S Undersecretary for Higher Education addressing key achievements regarding cooperation between the Ministry and health sector authorities and the visions for promoting their relationship, physicians enrolled in the national postgraduates’ program, and the most important challenges the MOHERI and the health sector face.
A training workshop on the universal health coverage and sustainable development goals was further carried out in the last day of the forum, ran by Dr. Awad Mataria, Director of Universal Health Coverage and Health Systems at the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean.
The workshop focused on rebuilding the health systems in the Sultanate of Oman based on the lessons learned from COVID pandemic, modern concepts in health systems, and post-pandemic changes. Moreover, Dr. Awad Mataria in his lecture touched upon the drafting and preparation of new vision of the country health systems that align with the international experiences in developing the health systems. He addressed also the UHC.
