Higher Institute of Health Specialties Marked Leadership in Specialized Health Education
26/6/2023The Higher Institute of Health Specialties (HIHS) organized today (Monday) an open day under the theme Leadership in Specialized Health Education.
The event at the Ministry of Defence Pension Fund, was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Ajmi, Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs, with the presence of number of directors general and senior officials from public and private institutions in addition to faculty members.
The opening ceremony was commenced with the Dean Address Dr. Manal Al-Zadjali where she highlighted that the health system in the Sultanate of Oman is receiving a particular importance from the government, putting health among its national priorities in Oman Vision 2040 alongside education, learning, scientific research, and national capacities.
She noted that HIHS is constantly working to prepare qualified health cadres by providing appropriate learning facilities for the educational environment and high-quality specialized health programs to build research capacities and skills capable of solving health issues.
Dr. Al Zadjali added that the Ministry of Health has invested extensively in the education and training of health care professionals to ensure comprehensive health care to all community members. This is maintained through the adoption of a high-quality and transparent education system with community partnerships that meet the needs of the labor market in accordance with national and international standards.
The Dean of Higher Institute for Health Specialties affirmed the Institute support to Ministry objective by developing specialized educational programs that support the diversity of educational tracks and keep pace with sustainable development and future skills, promoting indigenous Omani values, and contributing to the development of competencies and competitive skills at the national and global levels. The education at the Institute at the same time is encouraging ways to find of various sustainable financial sources for the specialized health education system along with supporting scientific research, creativity and innovation.
The day aimed at introducing the Higher Institute for Health Specialties as a leading academic and community educational institution in addition to identifying its scientific programs. The event shed light on the HIHS’s achievements and the role of community partnerships.
