Health Minister issues Ministerial Decision

27/1/2015

H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Saidi, Minister of Health, issued a ministerial decision to form a specialized team to study the implications, the consequent damages of  rains that flooded Al-Nahda Hospital, as well as the solutions and alternatives.

The specialized team will submit the suggestions and proposals to the Minister within a period not exceeding two-week.

This ministerial decision came after H.E. Al-Saidi visited the Hospital on Monday.

The Ministry of Health in cooperation with Muscat Municipality has made some procedures since the rains entered the Hospital in 2011, where it built a wall from the two sides of the Hospital (Eastern & Southern sides) and drainage channels which helped to stop the water entering from these sides. However, due to the heavy rains and lack of appropriate drainage, the water had entered the Hospital from the front side.

MOH praised the concern of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Finance and H.E. Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed al-Shabibi, Minister of Housing and Chairman of the Services Sector Committeeat the Council of Ministers. In addition to the Hospital staff, Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance (PACDA) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP) for their efforts during the precautionary evacuation for the patient and for protecting the medical equipment and Hospital facilities.
