Health Ministry Hosts Leadership for Health Programme

 Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Darweesh bin Saif Al-Muharbi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health for Administrative Affairs, the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and Harvard School of Public Health – USA, organized the Leadership for Health Programme.

In the beginning of the programme, a presentation was given by H.E. Dr. Al-Muharbi on the importance of effective leadership in a system, the qualities of leadership gained through accumulated experiences, training and strong administration, as well as providing the assistance and encouraging environment to achieve the desired goals.

The programme highlighted the preparation of health leaders that could able to find practical solutions, meet the health system challenges and to provide the participants with the basics of management and leadership in terms of planning, organization, coordination and the mechanism of building an effective team work.

The two-week programme gathering a number of health leaders from the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region and administrative leadership experts from Harvard School, Sultanate of Oman, as well as WHO.

It is worth mentioning that the training programme has two parts, in which the first part was held in Geneva. The second and important part of the programme is taking place in Muscat.
