The 1st National Prosthetic & Orthotic Symposium began at the Khoula Postgraduate Center Auditorium today.  The two-day symposium is organized by Khoula Hospital, Prosthetic and Orthotic Department with participation of nearly 100 from various health sectors in the Sultanate; clinical prosthetist & orthotist, prosthetist & orthotist technicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapist, doctors and nurses. 

The symposium aims at raising the performance level of the provided services and professional performance level of the health workers, identifying the optimum use of the human and material resources, maintaining the health workers and patient’s safety, and attaining the absolute patient’s satisfaction.

Dr. Said al-Riyami, Assistant Director General for Medical Affairs, Khoula Hospital pointed out to the importance of the mutual cooperation between the medical staff and to be prepared to convey any updates in prosthetic, orthotic and rehabilitation sciences.

For her side, Dhakiya al-Noobi, senior prosthetist & orthotist specialist, Khoula Hospital talked about the prosthetic and orthotic in Oman.

The symposium included a number of scientific lectures like; general concept of orthopedics management and physiotherapy management in cerebral palsy.
