NCNPS Celebrates International Day against Drug Abuse

Under the theme “Your Life is much Important….So Draw your Path” the National Committee for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (NCNPS) celebrated today the International Day against Drug Abuse, which marks 26th of June every year.
The celebration ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Said al-Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, and with attendance of H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Saidi, Minister of Health, NCNPS members, medical staff, social workers and psychologists.
This celebration comes to attract the World’s attention to the efforts being exerted to eliminate the harmful drug that destroys the future of the drug abusers. The event also highlighted the NCNPS efforts at all levels to curb the spread of this phenomenon in the society.
It also aims at familiarizing the participants the scourge of drugs and its harm to the drug abusers and the community, the society’s role to combat this phenomenon, contribute to reducing the spread of drug abuse, as well as forming health, social and cultural awareness to the individuals and community, as the drug is a global problem requires different efforts.
The celebration includes various agenda presented by the NCNPS, Royal Oman Police (ROP), Ministry of Health (MOH) and Ministry of Social Development.
At the end of the ceremony, the guest launched the societal competition by adopting community projects, in order to reduce the spread of drugs abuse among community’s members.
