The Ministry of Health (MOH) organized yesterday the Gulf seminar on Health Cities in coordination with the Secretariat General of the GCC States at the City Seasons Hotel under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Saidi, Minister of Health.

Dr. al-Saidi has pointed out in his welcoming speech to the Sultanate’s interest to composition partnerships and collaboration with government authorities and civil society organizations, the grounds that health can not be achieved by the Ministry of Health alone separately from the other sectors.

Organizing this seminar in the Sultanate comes in implementation of the minute of the coordination meeting of the GCC ministries of health’s officials (Geneva, January 2015) about the initiatives of health cities.  

This seminar aimed to view the distinctive expatriates and experiences of the GCC States in the field of Gulf cities, as well as to suggest new interventions that will stimulate the current reality of the epidemiological map, taking into account changes in them.

The three-day seminar will address several issues, including community participation and their role in sustainable development, health cities between theory, reality and practice, strategy of health cities in reducing the spread of non-communicable diseases and support and protect the environment in the health city.
