Sultanate to Take Part in 65th Session of WHO’s Regional Committee

The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Health (MOH) will participate in the meetings of the 65th Session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, which will begin on Monday lasts till 18th of October 2018 at the Government of Sudan.
H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health chairs the official delegation of the Sultanate participating in the 65th Session meeting.
The meetings address strategic and health issues including advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC), promoting health and well-being, optimizing WHO’s performance and engaging the private sector to progress towards UHC, preparing a draft for the Global Action Plan on the refugees and migrants health and a draft for the WHO Global Strategy on Health, Environment and Climate Change, as well as developing a roadmap on access to medicines and vaccines.
The meeting will also touch on issues related to the Eastern Mediterranean region such as protecting people from the impact of health emergencies, latest development on the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), enhancing pharmacovigilance in the Region, improving the quality and coverage of mortality statistics and improving the health of mothers and newborn in the Region.
In addition to developing a strategic and regional sector for the hospitals sector in the Region, improving the access to the health information and knowledge resources, establishing sustainable health systems in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, as well as developing a Regional Action Plan to implement the Global Vector Control Response 2017 – 2030.
The 2017 annual report of the WHO regional director for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, the progress reports and the WHO roadmap in the region will be reviewed during the meetings.
