The Ministry of Health (MOH) represented by the Directorate General of Primary Health Care’s Department of School & University Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE) held on Thursday a ceremony at the Institute of Health Sciences to honor winners of the competition ‘Facts for Life’ book.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Humood Khalfan Al Harthi, MOE’s Undersecretary for Education & Curriculum with the presence of H.E. Dr. Sultan Ya’rub Al Busaidi, MOH’s Health Affairs Advisor.
According to Dr. Saeed Al Lamki, Director General of Primary Health Care the submitted research of the book for the year 2015/2015 reached approximately 16750 research by 43% of the overall Grade Tenth students. This number has proved the positive interaction among students regarding this competition. Dr. Al Lamki pointed out that the book “Facts for Life’’ is issued by the MOH in collaboration with theUnited Nations Children's Fund UNICIF and contains awareness health messages that transfer from the student to the family and accordingly to the community. The book content is being reviewed periodically in consistence with the epidemiological pattern.
The winners were divided into categories on the Sultanate level and Governorates level including students, schools, teachers, doctors, and nurses. Al Dhahira Governorate won the first place on the Sultanate level whereas Al Sharqia North won on the Governorate level.
The ceremony further included the honoring of winners who participated in the World Health Organization (WHO) competition for the best health piece of art in the World Health Day 2017.
