The Central Committee of the Planning & Implementation of the Muscat Campaign for Elimination of Aedes Aegypti Mosquito announced the conclusion of the works and activities of the Campaign in the Governorate of Muscat, which ran from 8 – 23 January, 2019.

The Muscat Campaign achieved its objective in covering all the intended locations. The initial indications of the Campaign showed a decrease in the number of registered dengue cases, as well as the aedes aegypti mosquito-breeding sites.

A plan has been developed to continue the activities of vector surveillance and the elimination efforts of the aedes aegypti mosquito in some areas in Muscat Governorate in coordination between the concerned authorities.

The Central Committee of the Campaign calls upon all the citizens and residents to continue adhering the practices and procedures to eliminate the Aedes aegypti mosquito-breeding sites, follow the health instructions and urge all the community members to follow it.

In this regard, the members of the Central Committee extend their thanks to all citizens and residents, the civil institutions and individuals, especially the volunteers for their cooperation with the field teams. 

The members of the Central Committee are also very grateful to the various mass media bodies that covered all the activities of the Campaign and contributed professionally to communicate the right and proper information, as well as promote the awareness among the community.

In the same context, the Central Committee of the Campaign expresses its thanks and gratitude to the heads of the subcommittees and their members, heads of the groups and field team members and all the field teams for their great efforts, which has had a great impact on the success of the Campaign.
