MOH Conducts Risk Management Workshop

The Healthcare Risk Management workshop started today (Tuesday) at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque Auditorium, that was organized by the Quality Assurance Center of the Ministry of Health (MOH) represented by the department of Patient Safety & Risks Management in collaboration with Logistics for Healthcare Improvement company.

The three-day workshop is held with the objective of recognizing the importance of risk management to modern risk management organizations, as well as understanding and properly utilize risk management tools. The workshop aims at building an effective incident reporting system and evaluating risk management systems, in addition to identifying the origins of human error and ways of dealing with them in a proper fair manner.

The workshop witnessed the participation of 45 risk management focal points from the Sultanate’s different Directorate General of Health Services in addition to MOH hospitals. An expert in Risk Management from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia lectures in the workshop. 

During the three days of the workshop, the participants will be exposed to fundamentals of Enterprise Risk Management, risk managers roles and responsibility, incident reporting system, and anatomy of error. The workshop additionally addresses the integrated risk management guidelines in the Sultanate, and development of a risk management program. The participants would be able to assess workplace risk using risk registries. Furthermore, the workshop explores two types of risk management tools, which are Healthcare Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (HFMEA), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Moreover, the third day will include practical training by conducting departmental visits.
