A four-day course on War Surgery has started today Wednesday at the Muscat Holiday organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health’s Center for Emergency Management. The course gathered over 50 Omani surgeons and health professionals to share expertise in this unique field of traumatology.

The course aimed at introducing Omani surgeons and medical professionals to the realities of conflict scenarios, with all the limitations it entails. Moreover, the course aimed at enhancing the medical professionals’ skills in the specificities of war injuries caused by high-energy bullets and explosive devices.

The lectures, conducted by three senior ICRC surgeons, presented the ICRC experience in war trauma, which is based on more than 110,000 war-wounded patients treated in ICRC independent hospitals around the world in the last 40 years.
