Sultanate to Take Part in International Conference on Public Health for Sustainable Development

The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Health (MOH) will participate during 23 – 27 of this month in the International Conference on Public Health for Sustainable Development which is being held in Havana, Cuba.

The official delegation participating in this Conference is headed by H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health.

The Conference, hosted by the Republic of Cuba, will address a number of health topics and issues related to the public health and sustainable development.  

The sustainable development is an initiative launched by the United Nations (UN) in 2015, in which it seeks to achieve several goals that serve the individual, the community and the environment by working to achieve 17 goals related to all basic living needs.

The third goal of this initiative is directly related to the field of individual and community health and has 13 sub-goals, which the countries seek to achieve it such as reducing maternal and infant mortality and accidents deaths, enhancing research in the health field and achieving the universal coverage in the health system.

It is worth mentioning that the Sultanate, represented by the Ministry in collaboration with the other government authorities and international organizations has set up the necessary plans to implement and achieve these goals within a specified time-frame in order to achieve what has been agreed through this initiative.
