ICU's Patients Airlifted back to Salalah

The Medical Response and Public Health Sector in the Ministry of Health (MOH) and in collaboration with the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) airlifted yesterday a number of patients in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) and their families to the Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah after being evacuated to various hospitals in the Sultanate to receive the necessary medical care during the tropical Cyclone Mekunu.

The Ministry of Health transferred a number of patients who were distributed to the ICUs in the hospitals of Khaola, Royal, Nizwa, Sohar and others through the ambulances to RAFO Musannah Airbase accompanied by specialized medical team and equipment under the supervision of the MOH Emergency Cases Center.

Accordingly, a number of RAFO planes airlifted the patients to Salalah where they were received by a group of ambulances and another medical team to transfer them to the Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry has coordinated with RAFO on Tuesday, May 24, to airlifted (30) critical cases including the premature and children and adult in the ICUs to Al-Seeb Airbase. The patients were received by (62) equipped MOH ambulances from all Governorates in order to relieve the stress on the ambulances in Muscat Governorate. The patients were transferred according to their conditions to the hospitals of Royal, Khaola, AL-Nahda and the referral hospitals in the nearby Governorates (Sohar, Rustaq, Nizwa and Ibra).

Furthermore, a total of (218) dialysis patients were airlifted with their families to Muscat to continue to receive their treatment.
