Rapid Response Teams Training Programme (RRT TP) for Dengue Fever Outbreak Response commenced today (Sunday) under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Saeed Harib Al Lamki, Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary for Health Affairs at Movenpick Hotel.
The opening was attended by H.E. Dr. John Jabbour, WHO Representative in the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Amal Al Maani, MOH’s Director General of Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as officials from the Center and WHO Office.
Organized by the Ministry of Health represented by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and in collaboration with the World Health Organization Office in Oman, the five-day training course is aiming at strengthening rapid and effective response to emerging disease outbreaks focusing on vector-borne diseases, minimizing morbidity and mortality through continuous and adequate preparedness in outbreak management.
The RRT TP is geared to national and sub-national professionals responsible for outbreak investigation and response. It aims to train an experienced multidisciplinary team involving fields of surveillance, laboratory support, infection prevention, and control.
The training methodology is based on participatory training, ensuring active engagement of participants throughout the training period. Educational components and simulation exercises, such as case studies, will be utilized to enable rapid response teams to acquire and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills for early detection of threats arising from infectious risks and potential outbreaks, and to respond to them promptly.
