The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Health (MOH) has joined the Asian Harmonization Working Party (AHWP) for Medical Devices whose membership includes 26 countries. The Sultanate has officially accepted its membership in the Working Party meeting held recently in Cebu city, Philippine.
Joining to the AHWP enables the Ministry to participate actively in the different technical teams of the Party concerned with medical devices control. In addition, this joining will contribute to keep pace with the developments of the other international regulatory bodies, as well as exchanging experiences and benefiting from the global experiences.
This step comes within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to communicate with the international and regional organizations in various health fields. As well as, to organize the work and control on the medical devices and supplies market.
The AHWP aims to unify the trend towards the medical devices and products control in Asia and raising the awareness on the importance of harmonization and achieving the communication with the International Medical Device Regulators Forum (IMDRF).
