The Ministry of Health (MOH) signed recently an agreement for supplying breathing apparatus for low-income and social security patients worth (50,000) OR funded by Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO).

The agreement was signed by Dr. Kadhim Jafar Suleiman, MOH’s Director General of Specialized Medical Care, and Khalid Al Fana Al Araimi, the Company’s External Affairs Manager.

Director General of Specialized Medical Care emphasized the significance of public and private sector partnerships for the general interest, praising OMIFCO 2-year-initiative in funding the purchase of home care ventilators for low income and social security patients.

Meanwhile, the OMIFCO External Affairs Manager stressed the company's keenness in activating social responsibility among the various governmental institutions to serve the aspects of development in the country, including with regard the health services provided to citizens.

Al-Araimi added that the agreement will contribute to enhancing the quality of health services, as well alleviating the burden of the disease on the patients while providing them with more health care. In addition, the company has donated 300,000 Omani Riyals for the COVID-19 epidemic Control Fund.

Last year, 53 patients benefited from this initiative across the Sultanate’s hospitals. The appropriate apparatus selection process was managed by a working team headed by DGSMC Senior Consultant Dr. Muhammad Al-Farsi, and representatives from the Directorate General of Engineering and Financial Affairs.

Home ventilators yield positive outcomes as reducing patients’ long stay in the hospitals particularly at the intensive care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU), consequently using the ICU beds for the critical cases. Additionally, these devices can sometimes prevent infections transmission.
