Directorate General of Specialized Medical Care
The Directorate General of Specialized Medical Care (DGSMC) is one of the directorates that lies under the oversight of the Undersecretary for Health Affairs, and it works basically to ensure delivery of effective, safe, and high quality health care services in secondary and tertiary health care institutions. The directorate works also to develop and improve therapeutic, diagnostic and supportive services in health institutions under its supervision, and to ensure the implementation of the ministry's plans that aim to improve health services delivered to the population. In addition, the DGSMC participates in the process of planning for the new projects in secondary and tertiary healthcare institutions, and in determining the required resources (equipment, staff, medications, etc.) for these institutions. The directorate implements an approach that depends on regular analysis of performance indicators to evaluate hospitals performance and operations.
