In a bid to provide defensive driving training for ambulance drivers, the Ministry of Health and the Royal Oman Police’s Traffic Safety Institutes, signed today (Wednesday) an agreement, funded by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
The agreement, signed at Muscat Governorate Police Command Headquarters, stipulates that (684) Ministry of Health ambulance drivers will undergo specialized training in preventive driving techniques at the ROP’s traffic safety institutes of the Directorate General of Traffic.
On behalf of the Ministry of Health, the agreement was signed by H.E. Suleiman bin Nasser Al-Haji, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, while Major General Khalifa bin Ali Al-Siyabi, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Administrative and Financial Affairs, signed on behalf of the Royal Oman Police.
The signing ceremony was attended by several senior officials from the Ministry of Health and the Royal Oman Police.
The agreement forms part of a broader framework of cooperation between the two parties, aimed at boosting the efficiency of ambulance drivers and increasing their awareness of safe driving techniques in emergency and critical situations that demand a swift and secure response.
The training programs, to be conducted at traffic safety institutes, will focus on developing drivers’ defensive driving skills, reducing the risk of accidents, and safeguarding both medical personnel and patients during transport. This initiative is set to elevate the overall quality of healthcare services provided to citizens and residents.
