The Ministry of Health, in the framework of its regulatory role, announces that, in full coordination with Danone, a decision has been issued for the voluntary recall of a number of the company’s product batches.
This measure comes in light of recent scientific and international developments regarding the presence of the substance Cereulide, which is produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus. The decision also takes into account the scientific opinion issued by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) on February 2, 2026, which established the acute reference dose (ARfD) of this substance for infants.
The Ministry emphasizes that this action aligns with the latest scientific updates and is purely precautionary. It does not indicate confirmed health risks to consumers but reflects a commitment to the highest standards of quality and food safety.
The Ministry of Health confirms that it has taken all necessary measures, in coordination with the relevant authorities and the concerned company, to remove the affected batches from the Omani market and to monitor the implementation of these measures, prioritizing the safety and health of the community.
